10 Healthy Habits for Busy Women

Do you feel sluggish?

Are you unhappy how you look?

Would you like to have more energy?

Do you feel depressed?

I get it! You are busy!

You are focusing on your job, your kids, your business, your parents, volunteering, and you have no time for yourself. Busy women tend to focus on serving everyone in their life and lose sight of their health.

Spring is a perfect time to rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit. It is a great time to get a fresh start, focus on goals and energize your daily routine. I have 10 healthy habits I have started to live a healthier and happier life.


Develop a morning routine.

If you study successful people, you will notice they share similar habits and one is the morning routine. Author of Design Your Day, Claire Diaz Ortiz, notes the best thing you can do to be productive is to create your ideal morning routine.

I want to stress, a morning routine is a personal thing. Nearly every productivity expert recommends a morning routine, each one is just a bit different! It isn't so much about what is in your morning routine, just that you have one.

Set a bedtime to get 8+ hours of sleep.

Think about what time you need to wake up in the morning and back that up at least 8 hours. That’s your new bedtime. Research shows the importance of sleep to your health. I recommend if you want to get up earlier to start your day, you may want to shut it down earlier at night.


Move more.

Sitting too much is bad for your health. It has shown to increase your risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and depression. I know- You may not be one to go to the gym and lift weights, but simple movement to get your blood flowing and heart pumping will make you feel better. There are many benefits to morning movement, so I recommend developing a small workout routine in the morning that you enjoy.


Water is a great way to get long-lasting energy for your day. Drinking water throughout your morning is a great way to hydrate your body right away. So, bottoms up to start your day! Then fill up your favorite mug and keep it with you all day.


Plan and Prepare nutritious meals and snacks.

Menu planning is key to making healthy choices on crazy days. Preparing meals that are easy access in your freezer and refrigerator allows you to have quick meals for busy nights.

Planning and prepping meals is the best way to avoid the drive-thru burger place. Eating protein, fruits, and vegetables provides you with the necessary energy you need to face the day.

I found that preparing my smoothie and juice the night before, helps me with my habit of healthy eating. Don’t skip having a nutritious breakfast to support your day.

Practice mindfulness.

During my mindfulness practice, I tend to calm my mind and prepare my spirit for the day. It has helped me to gain clarity and intention which influences my life. Mindfulness sets the tone for my day. It is important to me that I am living each day with intention and focus.


Make time for friends and family.

An integral aspect of overall health, our social lives are rarely talked about when compared with diet and exercise, but research suggests they may play just as important a role in our health and happiness. Plan time for your friends and family and ensure this is a priority.

Routine Health Screens

Schedule your routine health screens throughout the year. Health screens detect potential problems early and may even save your life. When you detect a disease early, you can prevent complications and improve your quality of life.

Get your personal space in order.

This subject has risen to the forefront recently with the book, “Life Changing Magic Of Tidying Up,” by Kon Mari.

Piles of mail, clothes in the laundry basket, toys on the floor, dishes in the sink, and shoes by the door are the common culprits in my home. While this seems innocent and normal, clutter can be cause stress and inhibit our happiness.

Over the years, I have incorporated one new healthy habit into my life at a time. I’ve created slow habit changes that will last.

I recommend choosing one of the healthy habits above.

Practice this habit for 30 days.

Then begin another practice.

As a busy woman, you have to show up for so many people and serve at your max potential. Healthy habits are important practices for you to achieve.
